Hello, I’m Yahna!
I’m a stay-at-home mom of a busy toddler and wife to a wonderful husband who has the patience of Job when it comes to all my wild ideas. We were unintentionally thrown into the world of DIY remodeling when we purchased our first home and discovered mold on move-in day. Home sweet home, turned into ripping out a bathroom, two bedrooms, and a hallway to get rid of the mold but it definitely gave us hands-on education in home renovation!
I love a new challenge and the feeling of accomplishing something yourself without having to call in the “experts”. Most of the projects I start, begin with “Well, it couldn’t be that hard… right?”. Everything from remodeling a bathroom, learning to pressure can, starting a garden, installing flooring, and learning to make meals from scratch on a budget have revolved around this central theme.
I always thought that making meals from scratch took hours per meal and that I was destined to spend 90% of my day in the kitchen slaving over a hot stove if I wanted my family to eat well. It turns out I was just using the wrong recipes! Cooking from scratch doesn’t have to be an all-day slave sentence, you just need to find the way to do it that maximizes your time in the kitchen.
Intentionally budgeting and living frugally (meaning lots of DIY renovations and projects!) have allowed our family to have the freedom to make great memories and spend more time together and I’d love to pass along the things that have helped us in our journey!
